INTRODUCTION & THESIS
It's no secret that the representation of women in sports media is almost inexistent. When female sports and athletes do make it into the sports media spotlight, their representation is typically skewed. These athletes are over sexualized and criticized for their feminine attributes, when the media should be focusing on their game.
Large sports media corporations such as ESPN and Sports Illustrated are especially guilty of portraying these misrepresentations. We will explore these three case studies to help illustrate the female role in sports media.
